The Horizontal Tube-Type Primary Gas Cooler is a shell-and-tube type heat exchanger designed to reduce the temperature of high-temperature raw coke oven gas from approximately 700–800°C to below 120°C. It achieves this through indirect heat exchange between the hot gas and cooling water flowing inside the tubes.
This type of cooler is known for its robust performance, high heat transfer efficiency, and ease of maintenance, making it an essential component in traditional COG cleaning systems.
Gas Flow
The raw gas enters the shell side of the cooler and flows across a horizontal bundle of cooling tubes.
Water Circulation
Cooling water flows inside the tubes in a counter-flow or cross-flow arrangement, absorbing heat from the gas through the tube walls.
Temperature Drop
As the gas passes through the shell side, its temperature decreases rapidly, promoting the condensation of part of the tar vapors and water vapor.
Gas Outlet
The cooled gas exits the unit and proceeds to the electrostatic tar precipitator or other downstream purification equipment.
Shell and Tube Design: Proven and stable structure, with hot gas in the shell and water inside the tubes
Removable Tube Bundles: Allow for periodic maintenance and cleaning
Tube Sheets and Baffles: Improve heat exchange efficiency and ensure stable gas flow paths
Support Frames: Secure installation and minimal vibration
Optional Accessories: Expansion joints, drain outlets, inspection ports
